Yes! All of our estimates are free.
Rough prices are usually not close to what the price will actually be. Without seeing your yard and measuring it, it's hard to get close with your rough price. Your yard may be hilly, there may be concrete, etc.
Not only that, but manufacturing prices are constantly changing for materials, and by the time you've received an official estimate from us, it could be completely different from what you were expecting when you asked this question. It's always best to request for estimates right away, instead of thinking about maybe doing it in the future.
Even if you decide to wait after getting the estimate, by the time you are ready to proceed, we will already have your measurements and can just update your first bid.
This is almost impossible to answer because there is no way to tell how the weather will be in a few weeks or even months from now. Installations are all weather dependent.
The most common weather issue we run into is rain. A light rain during summer/warm weather months is fine, but if it's a heavy rain, it can turn your yard muddy. If your yard is muddy, installing can risk your yard being torn up, due to needing to dig to put your posts in.
We also won't install when it's colder out and there's light rain. It'll be too cold for our installers, as well as icy roads may form, and we want our installers to be safe while they're with us. Once the ground freezes, we no longer install residential fences until it unfreezes.
We've been in business since 1945, which means we've been around for 75 years. We're a family-run business and are usually the first choice of many. You could drive down the road and see our sign on multiple different fences. We're also licensed, bonded and insured.
The 50% down payment will help us to be able to order your materials. We order those materials within a few days after receiving your down payment. Please also keep in mind that 50% doesn't fully cover the cost of materials either.
If we were to upfront the full cost of materials for every job, it would be a long time before we're paid for that job, especially after the Derecho, and it'll add up. This isn't possible. Not only that, but someone may change their mind on getting the job done, then want to cancel, after we already ordered the materials. If they do that, we don't get paid for the materials. If you're on the fence about paying a down payment, we suggest that you wait until you're 100% sure you want to have us install your fence. Unless your materials are extremely rare, our down payments are refundable.
The manufacturing prices for materials are constantly changing, especially now. There seems to be a shortage, because prices are significantly higher compared to previous years.
We only allow 10 days so that we can adjust our price to match whatever the material cost increase is, if needed, so that way we don't eat the costs and we still make a profit.
Unfortunately, we do have to go out and measure your yard ourselves. Our experienced estimators know how to install a fence and they know what to look for in a yard. Sometimes you may want your fence to be in a certain area that just isn't possible.
For example, the sidewalk. Per city ordinances, it needs to be a certain amount away. Not only that, but your yard may be hilly. Our estimators need to see how it is, so that we can order the correct materials for what needs done. Not only that, but sometimes people make mistakes. Your measurements may be wrong because you may have forgotten something.
Normally this would be a yes, but ever since the Derecho, we have been needing all of our materials for our own jobs. You’re welcome to give us a call to see if this is still true!
1. Before even thinking about getting an estimate, decide what type of fence you're looking for. A look at our galleries on our website would be beneficial. For more options, you could also swing by our office and grab one of the free brochures that we offer, or you can even download the brochures that are on the website.
2. Once you know what type of fence you want, call us at 319-393-0468. We'll set you up for an estimate. Decide whether you'll want the estimate mailed or emailed to you. While on the phone, ask what our timelines are looking like, as it's constantly changing.
3. After we come to your property and measure for your estimate, patiently wait for a week or two. Our estimators are doing multiple estimates a day and it can sometimes take a little bit for them to write up their bids and send them out. If you opt to have the estimate emailed to you, it'll be quicker than for you rather than to wait for it through the mail.
4. After receiving your estimate, read through everything and take some time to decide.
5. You decided and you want us to install your fence. Now is the time to sign and date the proposal, then pay the down payment. A lot of people like to mail the signed and dated proposal, and put in a check of the down payment in with it. Another option, which is the faster option, is to call us and pay for the down payment over the phone, then email the signed and dated proposal back.
6. Now that you're on our installation list, it's time to wait. Jim, our installation scheduler, will call you about a week or two before we know when we'll be able to install your fence. If you have any private utilities, like sprinklers, for example, make sure to mark these for our installers. Jim will call One Call and they'll mark your public utilities, like gas. However, you either need to put white flags or white paint where you want your fence installed, so that One Call knows where to mark for utilities.
7. Your new fence is installed and you love it. Now is the time to pay for the remainder of your bill. You can either call the office and pay for it that way, or you can send a check through the mail. Don’t forget to leave a review!
